Description:

Activated carbon, also called activated charcoal, activated coal or carbo activatus, is a form of carbon that has been processed to make it extremely porous and thus to have a very large surface area available for adsorption or chemical reactions.

Charcoal, a bioactive form of activated charcoal is used to treat gastrointestinal problems such as diarrhoea, indigestion, flatulence-related abdominal pain. Charcoal is also used to alleviate dialysis-related itching and to treat poisoning and drug overdose/toxicity.

Indications and Usage:

Relief of painful symptoms and pressure of excess gas in digestive tract; adjunct in treatment of many conditions in which gas retention may be problem, such as postoperative gaseous distention and pain, endoscopic examination, air swallowing, functional dyspepsia, peptic ulcer, spastic or irritable colon, diverticulosis.
